I once read a story about a very famous painting in Paris’ Lourve museum called “Checkmate.” The painting portrays a young man playing a chess match againt an evil-looking figure, who appears to have the lad trapped in a checkmate.
The boy is downcast and perplexed with his head in his hands while, on the other side of the table, the evil character has a devious smirk on his face.
One day, a world-class chess player was strolling by the piece and stopped to look. After a while, the man said, “They should change the name of this painting. The king still has one more move!”
Perhaps you’ve been through a time in your life when it seems like the devil has you in a checkmate. You feel defeated, like there’s no hope and nowhere else for you to turn. But it’s in those times that you have to remember ... your King has one more move.
Psalm 68:1 says, “Let God arise, Let His enemies be scattered…”
When you make the move of making God big in your life, His enemies will be scattered. Even when it seems like the devil has won and there’s no escape, you can still overcome by making God the King of your life.
The battle isn’t over, so never give up hope! Put God in His rightful position in your life and you’ll find victory in the toughest of circumstances.
Surrender control of your life to God and put Him in His rightful place as King of your life. Tell God when you feel overwhelmed and let Him make the right move to bring you to victory!
